Change What You Mean by Clean

CCL Pentasol of Haydock, suppliers of hygiene chemicals and technology to the food and drink industries, has won the prestigious ‘Company of the Year’ award at the recent Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Annual Luncheon and Awards held at the Savoy Hotel in London.

Company sales manager, Stuart McNeil said “I was delighted to accept this award on behalf of the whole CCL Pentasol Team. They have worked hard for this, giving our customers the best products and service over a long time. I’m proud of what the company has achieved during a very difficult trading period”.

Specialising in the supply of cost-effective and innovative cleaning and disinfection products for the food, dairy, brewing and beverage, pharmaceutical and related industries, CCL Pentasol is renowned for creating products that are both safer and more environmentally friendly. Indeed, with a product portfolio that has been developed through extensive research and market experience, CCL Pentasol provides a premium service with the cleaning expertise to back it up.

CCL Pentasol was founded by Alex MacDonald and Milton Matthew in 1985 when they marketed a single product – ProtoSolv. This, then revolutionary product, was designed to improve the cleaning efficiency and reduce the cleaning time on high heat milk equipment; particularly evaporators. From these modest beginnings the company has grown significantly and now offers a complete range of products covering every aspect of cleaning and hygiene in the food and beverage industries.

Operating out of a multimillion pound, purpose-built production facility in Haydock, Merseyside, CCL Pentasol serves discerning customers throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia. In fact, an ISO 9001 accredited company utilising HACCP working practices, it has a strong and diverse customer-base, including many blue-chip organisations.

CCL Pentasol continues to grow and evolve too. Over the past decade, for instance, the company has expanded its business within the ready meals and ‘High Care’ food and beverage businesses, and now enjoys preferred supplier status with many of the major producers.

The company has also expanded its conveyor lubrication and hygiene business within the food and beverage industry with the purchase of Daventry-based Pentasol (FB) from Global Chemical Technologies.

“This is a strategic addition to CCL’s core business,” explains CCL managing director Alex MacDonald. “Pentasol’s products, services, talent and customers complement CCL’s existing business and extend our ability to offer cost-effective solutions, compelling products and services to potential new customers. It is these competitive differentiators that have led many customers to choose Pentasol.”

Mr MacDonald went on to say: “We are excited by the considerable potential that Pentasol brings to CCL. We have high expectations for the business, and believe this acquisition will continue to strengthen CCL as a leading provider of total hygiene management solutions to all sectors of the food and beverage markets, as well as provide solid long-term growth opportunities.”

CCL will continue to work with former owners of Pentasol, Global Chemical Technologies, who trade as B&V Group, to provide the popular Clearstream cost-saving initiative that has proved so successful on many sites.

Global Chemical Technologies managing director Simon Ward said: “We believe this is a very beneficial arrangement for customers as the combined strength and expertise of the companies will significantly enhance the technical support and products available to them.”

The sales and service force operate on a regional basis throughout the UK and are backed up by the engineering division, which provides support for all of the chemical activities through the provision of engineering expertise and maintenance in chemical handling, management and control.

CCL Pentasol has a firm commitment to always be one step ahead of its competitors, discovering the next generation of ideas from all parts of the company. It takes pride in working out solutions, doing things differently … and doing them better!
