Strong growth in the US for Belton Cheese

Shropshire’s Belton Cheese headed stateside last week to promote their range of award-winning cheeses at North America’s largest speciality food and beverage event. Now in its 37th year, The Winter Fancy Food Show held in San Francisco, broke records with more than 18,000 buyers in attendance.

The show, which attracts over 1300 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, provided the perfect opportunity for Belton Cheese to sample a variety of their award-winning cheeses including Sage Derby, Port Wine Derby, Mature Cheddar, Double Gloucester and Top Hat Cheddar.

Belton has been successfully exporting their Belton Farm brand of cheeses to the US market for more than two years and the brand has demonstrated significant growth with sales up 39% compared to last year.  Local provenance is one of the reasons for the brand’s success but it’s also due to the strong working relationship Belton has forged with their exclusive US distributor, Anco Fine Cheese.

Commenting on the show, Phil Jones, Sales Manager at Belton Cheese said, “This is the second year we have attended The Winter Fancy Food Show and once again it has been an outstanding success. We have had tremendous feedback about our cheeses in particular Mature Cheddar and the Belton Farm brand really resonates with the US market. The quality of our cheeses combined with the local Shropshire story appears to be the main reason for our significant growth and we look forward to working closely with Anco Fine Foods
